Miss Dishy lands Kilbeggan finale for Ciaran Murphy Local trainer Ciaran Murphy sent out Miss Dishy to win the concluding John Thomas McNamara Series INH Flat Race at Kilbeggan. Having just her second start for the Westmeath based trainer, the mare stepped up on previous efforts to run out a game winner under Eoghan Finegan. The daughter of Mount Nelson had run well when third for previous connections at this track back in June before finishing seventh of 19 on her stable debut in a stronger contest at the Galway festival last time. Having been headed by Cailin Deas early in the straight, the 9/2 chance showed real guts to get back up on the run-in to win by three-quarters-of-a-length. Ciaran Murphy: “We had Granville Street who won here last year for the same lads but was hard to keep sound. He’s out for a year and the lads wanted another one so we bought this filly who came very well recommended from Harry and Lorna Fowler. “We ran her in Galway and the plan was to come here. It’s lovely to have a local winner. “She will probably go over hurdles now and is an improving filly.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee.
