Mighty Potter shows plenty on debut© Photo Healy Racing
Newcomer Mighty Potter marked himself out as a horse to follow when taking the bumper at Punchestown with an authoritative display.
He tanked into contention racing to the final quarter of a mile and readily swept past his rivals a furlong and a half out.
The 15/8 favourite wasn't extended in coming home five lengths to the good from Wild Hunt (9/1). Hasty (9/2) Brook finished third, beaten 13 lengths by the winner.
Jamie Codd said: “He’s the first of our stores to run from last year and he was bought by Joey Logan for Andrew and Gemma Brown. He cost plenty but as you can see he’s a gorgeous horse.
“We were delighted with his homework and he’s put in a good display there.
“We’ll see what Gordon wants to do with him whether that’s enough for the year and go jumping.
“Andrew and Gemma have really started to support the yard and he’s the first real big store along with Grand Paradis they bought last year. They are getting into a good calibre of horse.”
He gave Gordon Elliott four winners on the card following on from Black Tears (2/5f), Papal Lodge (4/5f) and Coach Carter (16/1).
