Mighty Potter a fourth for Elliott at Down Royal Mighty Potter made a winning debut over fences, in doing so giving trainer Gordon Elliott a four-timer, in the Tote Always SP Or Better At Down Royal Beginners Chase. A dual Grade 1 winner over hurdles last season, the five-year-old made just about all under Jack Kennedy and quickened up smartly from the back of the last when challenged by stablemate Mars Harper. The latter travelled into the race well and threw down a strong challenge from two out but once Kennedy asked his horse for more he showed a good attitude to quicken away. Gordon Elliott said: "To be honest, we didn't want to make the running with that horse either. "Jack said he has lost concentration at one or two, but in all he was very good. "With a lead, he would be a totally different horse but we had to make it, there was nothing we could do. It wasn't ideal, but look he said he never came out of second gear. "I'd be thinking of the Drinmore (over 2m4f at Fairyhouse) , we'll get him home and see how he is." Paddy Power cut the winner to 8/1(from 10/1) for the Turners Novices Chase and left him unchanged at 12/1 for the Arkle Chase. Additional reporting by Michael Graham.
