Midnight Our Fred is on a break after sustaining a cut in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham which led to him being pulled up.

John Flavin's charge went to Prestbury Park as an 8/1 chance after finishing runner-up in the Paddy Power Steeplechase at Leopardstown over Christmas, however, he was pulled up before the penultimate fence.

Flavin said: "He got a very bad cut in the race in Cheltenham. Noel McParlan rode him and he said he knew within two strides that something was after going wrong, so he pulled him up fairly quickly.

"He didn't go there without a chance off his Paddy Power form looking at the horse that was behind him (fourth-placed Nick Rockett) who won the Grand National.

"He'll probably have the summer off to get him back right and then we will kick on again. Hopefully, the same sort of programme again."
