Memorable afternoon for Manning as he doubles up with Bolger The finale of the turf Flat season, the Thank You Sobac Soil.ie Healthy Grass Maiden at Naas, saw Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning complete a double with Aiseirigh (well-backed 7/4 favourite). On the mark in the opener through Dawn Approach filly, Breaking News, the Coolcullen team rounded off a productive afternoon as Manning carried the Yue silks, unfamiliar to an Irish audience, to a length a quarter success. Runner-up Cafe Con Leche could certainly have done with a clearer passage through. However he wasn’t helping his rider Joe Doyle either. He produced a decent late spurt but Aiseirigh was in control by that stage. Manning reached the 1,600 winner mark on Breaking News and after completing the brace he reflected: “He’s a lovely big horse, backward and immature. He’s progressed as the year went on and has a future. He’s filling out and developing. “I’m very pleased with the way he did that and you won’t see the best of him until next year. “The first winner today was my 1,600th in Ireland.” The Stewards fined W.P.Browne, trainer, €65 for failing to fit a tongue tie to Kals Mogok (FR), prior to entering the parade ring.
