Three time point to point winner Christdalo ran away with the www.p2p.ie Mares Point to Point Bumper at Tipperary today, for trainer John Brassil and jockey Jamie Codd.
The well backed 4/6 favourite (from 4/5) simply skated in, eventually winning by four lengths once Codd brought the daughter of Glacial Storm to the front 1 1/2 furlongs from home
Afterwards winning trainer John Brassil reported 'she is a smashing mare and is from a good chasing family. She'll run in a mares' maiden hurdle at Killarney next Tuesday before being given a break.'
He added 'Derek O'Connor was originally to ride her but he broke his wrist at Punchestown while her booked rider, Niall Madden, received a kick this morning and couldn't ride; it's great to a get a replacement like Jamie Codd!'
Another jockey to substitute on a winner was apprentice Christy Geoghegan who replaced Rory Cleary (sustained a foot injury in a fall at the track the previous day) on Michael Halford's Sister Sox, winner of the Oola Handicap.
The winner tracked the leaders before being produced to lead a furlong out, eventually staying on well for a two length win over Fair Replacement.
Halford later mentioned 'she is straightforward but won't stay further than six furlongs. We'll find something similar again now.'
Hurricane Alley made all for a runaway 13 length in the E14,000 Tipperary Supporters Club Hurdle under Nina Carberry.
Trainer Ger Lyons was absent but was represented by assistant Terry Mitchell who reported 'he'll probably go for the valuable Murphys Handicap Hurdle at Killarney on Sunday.'
The opening 2yo maiden went to Platinum Blonde, providing trainer Charles O'Brien with his first winner of the new season.
O'Brien later reported 'Platinum Blonde barely stays five furlongs but should gain more stamina when she strengthens up. The experience of her two previous runs definitely helped and we may aim for some black-type now.'
Co Cork trainer John Murphy has a few nice Flat horses at present and he recorded his second 20/1 winner in two days, when Look No Further made a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
A second winner in as many days for Danny Grant, the son of Orpen tracked the leaders before progressing to lead a furlong out, staying on for a neck win over Absolute Image.
Pat Carey's Mountain Melody (14/1) was the narrow winner of the 'Enjoy The Action At Tipperary As A Member' Handicap under Pat Smullen.
Afterwards the stewards interviewed Carey into the apparent improvement in form of the winner, and accepted his explanation that he was unable to offer an explanation for the mare's poor run at Naas recently.
The concluding handicap hurdle went to Harry Rogers' South West Nine, under a strong ride from Barry Geraghty.
