Michael Hourigan and Timmy Murphy are always a difficult combination to beat and the duo teamed-up to land the featured Guinness Greenmount Park Novice Chase with Hi Cloy at Limerick yesterday.
Hi Cloy assumed command after three out with the son of Be My Native staying-on resolutely to deny Stashedaway by a length and a half.Hi Cloy could well run in the William Neville & Sons Chase at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Murphy went on to partner a double by capturing the Tom Cross Drilling Hurdle with Dyrick Daybreak. Incidentally, this was Murphy's initial winner for Dyrick Daybreak's handler David Kiely and the triumphant daughter of Ali-Royal could now take her chance in next month's Pierse Hurdle at Leopardstown.
The Michael Carroll-trained Criaire Princess gained due for her consistency by annihilating the opposition with John Levins in the opening Holmes O'Malley Sexton Maiden Hurdle. Criaire Princess made all of the running and having gone clear from three out, she ultimately beat Tom Sayers by twenty-five lengths.
22-year-old Levins went onto complete a brace by collecting the Park Hotel Charleville Handicap Hurdle with Old Pike Girl. The Gerry O'Neill-trained Old Pike Girl swept past Model Son at the final flight to triumph by three parts of a length.
Tom Ryan piloted his first winner for his guvnor Michael O'Brien by bringing home the Michael O'Brien-trained Away Home a clearcut winner of the Pricewaterhousecoopers Maiden Hurdle whilst Native Ray came home at his leisure with Sean McDermott in the Donie Daffy Hyundai Cars Croom Handicap Chase.
The Edward O'Grady-trained Cash And Carry bravely made most of the running with Roger Quinlan in the colours of Pizarro's owner Edward Wallace in the Patrick Molloy And Partners Flat Race.
