Review GOWRAN PARK 23RD AUG

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen enjoyed a tremendous afternoon at Gowran Park, recording a 131/1 treble via Prize Time, Jazz Beat and Al Mamaaliq.

The champion jockey was seen at his brilliant best aboard all three, with his boss speaking in glowing terms of Jazz Beat after his two-length success in Division One of the Bagenalstown EBF Maiden. 'He's a really nice horse, who will probably have one more run this season in a Group race,' said Weld.

Progressive filly Aquila Oculus has the Listed Oyster Stakes at Galway as her main objective after rattling up her four-timer in great style in the Goresbridge Handicap. Tony Mullins' charge may take in the valuable Guinness Gold Cup at Tralee in the meantime.

The Thomastown EBF Maiden, won by I-Timad in a blanket finish, was overshadowed by a nasty incident approaching the final furlong where three of the field hit the deck. Lauras Theme fell and brought down Lady's Heart and Dimah, with jockeys Eddie Ahern, Warren O'Connor and Niall McCullagh lucky to escape serious injury.

The stewards adjudged Wayne Smith, rider of Rasana, to be at fault, handing him an eight-day ban for careless riding and disqualifying his mount from fourth place.
