Review FAIRYHOUSE 18TH SEP

The 30,000 euro Tattersalls (Ireland) Open Race went for export at Fairyhouse yesterday afternoon when Oh So Rosie was produced with a devastating late run by Michael Kinane.

The Danehill Dancer juvenile was bought for just 650 punts across the road at the Tattersalls sales ring last September, and that purchase now looks a snip after recording her third victory. Kinane bided his time in the 15 runner event, and Stan Moore's charge stretched out well from the furlong pole to overcome long-time leader Jemmy John by a length and a half.

Carrick-On-Suir trainer Pat Flynn saddled a 62/1 double, highlighted by a first win for 16 year old Dungarvan rider Richie Kiely aboard Marko Jadeo in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap. The gelding shot clear inside the final furlong to beat Europaea by four lengths, and Flynn said afterwards, 'Richie gained experience on the pony racing circuit, and has been with me for a year. Marko Jadeo likes that ground, and will probably go for another handicap at Listowel next week.'

Cepangie, available at 16/1 in morning price lists and sent off a 6/1 co favourite, landed a touch for connections in the Garristown Handicap. Timmy Houlihan's mount struck the front well over a furlong out, and kept on gamely to beat The Flying Pig by a neck.

Wimbledon may bid for a quick follow up over hurdles at Listowel after taking the Hayestown Handicap under a determined drive from Pat Smullen. 'He loves fast ground and, if it stays like that, will go for a hurdle at Listowel,' said trainer Dermot Weld.

Michael Grassick sent out his first two-year-old winner of the season when Soranna led inside the final furlong under Niall McCullagh in the Clover Hill Nursery, while Golly Gosh swooped late for champion apprentice Tadhg O'Shea in the concluding Mullinam Handicap.
