Review BELLEWSTOWN 7TH JUL

It was a night of doubles at Bellewstown on Saturday evening as the three-day festival came to a conclusion.

Ruby Walsh teamed up with Willie Mullins to start the ball rolling with effortless winner Impudent (30/100f) in the Sherry Fitzgerald Lettings Novice.

The daughter of In The Wings was held up off the pace before moving into contention before the third last. She hit the lead over the penultimate flight and wasn't extended to get the measure of Our Monty by two lengths.

'She was entitled to be odds-on. I had her entered for other races here and picked the easiest option - we grabbed the money and ran!' said Mullins.

'She'll be entered for races on the Flat and over hurdles at Killarney and Galway and the intention is to run at both.'

Walsh had to work harder to gain success on Sher One Moor in the three-mile maiden hurdle.

Joe Crowley's charge hit the lead three out and looked to have matters under control but had to battle to fend off the late charge of Lord Teapot by a length-and-a-quarter.

'The trip was too short for him last time at Down Royal,' revealed Crowley's assistant Damien Byrne. 'He needs three miles and stays for ever. We'll find a winners' of one somewhere for him.'

Crowley struck again quickly when G'Day Molly landed the handicap hurdle half an hour later under Johnny Allen.

The filly hit the lead before the straight but had to battle to see off the challenge of Gandalf by a length-and-a-quarter.

'We might try and find another little handicap with her and then give her a rest - she's had a lot of racing recently,' said Byrne.

Willie Mullins had to wait until the final contest to gain his second winner of the night as another hotpot, Uncle Junior (4/9f), ran out a highly impressive winner of the bumper.

Patrick Mullins settled his mount in front and he eased clear down the straight for a 13-length margin over Oscarvail.

'He's a good horse with plenty of ability,' said Mullins. 'I think there is a winner of two at Galway for him. If not he will go jumping.'

Earlier Cupid's Bow had proved another example of an expectant mother blossoming when securing her second win of the week in the D Hotel Handicap.

Pat Martin's charge wore down front-runner Holbien late on for a three-parts success, defying a 5lb penalty for her success at Leopardstown on Wednesday.

'She'll have one more run before being retired. I don't know where, we'll she what the handicapper does,' said Martin.

Wayne Lordan was keen to lead on Winners Toast in the opening Flat maiden and the move paid off as he ran out a cosy winner.

Show Blessed showed guts to squeeze through between horses a furlong-and-a-half out and claim the Glebe House Stud Handicap under Pat Smullen.
