Meade seeks sale of wife's winner! Noel Meade’s Red Jack made a winning debut in the concluding Tuckmill Gallery (Pro-Am) INH Bumper at Naas today, scoring in the colours of the trainer’s wife Derville Meade and under jockey Danny Benson. The son of Mahler quickened to lead a furlong from home and in the end scored a two and three parts of a length win over Debuchet. Afterwards Meade stated “I thought he was quite good although we came we were fancying him really well but by the time it came around to the race, there were that many of them fancied I thought ‘Christ almighty!” “He actually came out of the Derby Sale and it’s quite difficult to buy a horse in June, break him and have him back that quick but everything he’s done, he’s done very easy. “He’s done a couple of pieces of work but he’s never really been taken off the bridle at home and he’s probably a very good horse I’d say.” He then quipped “I’ll have to talk to the owner and I might have to convince her to sell! “He probably will be sold and whether he’ll run again this season or not we’ll have to see. He’s a lovely horse and didn’t cost a fortune (E23,000) either.” By Tom Weekes, quotes from Gary Carson
