Declan McDonogh bagged a quick double at Dundalk tonight when Honeysuckle Rose ran out a convincing winner of the fillies maiden.
The Joseph O'Brien-trained filly had been fifth in a barrier trial on the surface back in July before finishing eighth on her official debut at the Curragh early last month.
She bagged a nice spot behind the leaders in today's seven-furlong contest before coming to lead inside the final furlong.
The Bated Breath filly, sent off 7/4 favourite, was nicely on top late on as she recorded a two-and-a-quarter length victory over J M's Joy
McDonogh said: "She ran a lovely race then (in Curragh), Chris (Hayes) rode her and he liked her.
"She handled the surface well tonight, jumped good and put herself in a lovely position. I let Shane (Foley on Shamanka go and I got a nice lead.
"When I gave her a crack, she actually picked up very well and was very strong at the finish.
"She is going to get further, so she is a nice type. She has a bit of size and scope.
"She could be one for the future."
