Timeless Call the 14/1 outside of the five runners, made all to win the Irish News Red Hand Top Tips Race at Dundalk this evening, scoring under a fine front running ride from Niall McCullagh.
McCullagh was quickly away on the daughter of Sakhee and, while his four rivals chose to sit off the pace (wonderfully described by ATR presenter Jason Weaver as a “a married man's gallop”), Timeless Call had gone beyond recall inside the final furlong, eventually scoring a comfortable length and a half win over Katla
Afterwards winning trainer Reggie Roberts, well-known in greyhound racing circle, said “we fancied her today and she was 25/1 this morning!
“She is a grand mare and ran very well in a conditions race last year, won by Duff. She could go for a Listed race in a few weeks time over six furlongs, as long as the ground is suitable – she wants fast ground.”
