Today's meeting at Fairyhouse featuring the €100,000 SBK Dan & Joan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase goes ahead as scheduled following an early morning inspection.

The first on a seven-race card gets underway at midday.

The cold snap that has greatly affected racing both in the UK and Ireland over the past week put the fixture in some doubt with some parts of the track still frozen yesterday afternoon.

However, milder weather has arrived just in time including 0.5mm of rain overnight to ease the conditions.

Clerk of the Course Brendan Sheridan reported this morning: "The areas that we were concerned about yesterday are fine and the temperature at the moment is 5C. Speaking with Met Eireann it is to get up to 7C.

"The ground on the chase track remains Soft.

"The hurdle track is now Yielding to Soft, Soft in places, so that has tightened a fraction from yesterday. We are racing on the inner most line on the hurdle track."

Racing also takes place at Fairyhouse next Thursday when the inside track will be used and the going is described as Soft at present.

There was further good news on the point-to-point circuit with today's meetings at Tinahely and Ballindenisk both going ahead after inspections.
