Trainer Willie McCreery sent out 10/3jf Positive Energy to win Division ll of the Yellow Furze Handicap at Navan.
A staying on third over the extended mile at Galway last time, the Make Believe gelding appreciated stepping up an additional two furlongs here.
Held up in mid division by Billy Lee, the gelding moved closer in seventh over two furlongs out. Taking fourth over a furlong from home, he headed leader Designer Cailin over 200 yards out.
Keeping on strongly up the hill, the winner had two-and-a-half lengths in hand at the line.
Willie McCreery said: "He is only furnishing into himself - he is a big, raw horse by a good sire in Make Believe. I think he is a very underrated stallion. I love him and they are all very honest and try hard, no-nonsense type of horses. That's exactly what he is.
"He just needs to furnish into himself and he needs to strengthen. He's getting stronger the whole time.
"I would have loved to have done that (trip) earlier, but he's just not strong enough. With time, he will really relish that trip."
