McCreery's owners enjoy their Gowran win Willie McCreery has his horses in good form and the Group 1 winning trainer registered his third winner in as many days at Gowran today as his True To Herself landed the Gowran Park Handicap under stable jockey Bill Lee. McCreery and Lee combined for a double at Roscommon on Monday and McCreery took great pleasure in True To Herself's success today. The daughter of Clodovil gained her maiden win to a quiet reception at Listowel in June and then McCreery admitted her owner's 'no show' was his own error, saying “I told the owner not to bother coming down so I suppose he's fit to kill me!” Today ex-Gaelic footballer McCreery said “Brian McDonald, one of the best Laois players, is the owner and I'm delighted she's won for him again. Tom (his father) bred her and they are here today but weren't there when she won in Listowel. I'm delighted for them as they are lovely people. “We're trying to get her good enough so they can keep her, and hopefully we can get a bit of black-type. “She loved the ground and just loved the way the race worked out. Billy got her nice and settled as she was a bit keen the last day, it all worked out well. “I just wanted to get her back on track as I was a little bit worried about her. We're going forward now and we might have to travel a little bit with her.” Quotes from Gary Carson
