Maximus heads strong Mullins National challenge Willie Mullins is set to saddle another strong team in the Randox Grand National at Aintree on Saturday, headed by last year’s winner I Am Maximus. Paul Townend will be on board the JP McManus-owned gelding again as he bids to join some legends of the game by bagging back-to-back victories. Patrick Mullins looks set to partner Thyestes and Bobbyjo winner Nick Rockett while Danny Mullins has been pencilled in for Meetingofthewaters. Mullins, speaking to Dave Keena, at Downpatrick said: "We have a good chance in Aintree. "I Am Maximus loves the track. He will go back there with top-weight. "Paul Townend worked him yesterday and he wants to ride him again. "I think Nick Rockett has a chance. Patrick (Mullins) will probably ride him. "Danny (Mullins) has gone for Meetingofthewaters and he has got a lovely weight, so I think for each-way punters he is one they need to be following. "I think it (drying ground) will suit them all. The turf in Aintree is fantastic, there's a spring to it. Even when it is dry, there's still plenty of spring in it which is lovely."
