Kieran Cotter reports his classic prospect Matilda Picotte in good form ahead of a possible crack at the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The daughter of Sioux Nation won impressively on debut at the Curragh last year and, following a number of placed efforts in Group company, also made all in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF ‘Bosra Sham’ Fillies’ Stakes at Newmarket last October.
“All is going well and we are very happy with her,” said Cotter before adding: “We are kind of sitting on tenterhooks here. We'll go to the Guineas trial (at Leopardstown on April 2) please God and that will determine where we go.
“We are definitely looking at Newmarket (for the 1000 Guineas) as the track is tailor-made for her.
“The mile is the question, but I'd be confident she would stay seven anyway so we will see.”
Matilda Picotte also holds an entry in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh.
