Mary fails to cope with War He may have won his point-to-point on good to firm but Warhead showed he could operate on heavy ground too by getting the better of his main market rival, Miss Mary Mac, by two and a half lengths in the Louis Vambeck Memorial Maiden Hurdle. Warhead, in the hands of Davy Russell in the Gigginstown House Stud silks, headed Miss Mary Mac before the last and stayed on best from that point with a further ten length gap back to the third placed Regina Lo. Winning trainer, Paul Nolan said: "His experience probably won it for him and he won a point-to-point as a four-year-old. He was good today and he travelled far sweeter. Davy was super on him. He'll either go for a handicap now or for a beginners chase."
