All In Peder beats Kalmira© Photo Healy Racing
From 3/1 early this morning, All In Peder was friendless all day in the betting but confounded market expectations when winning the concluding 1m6f handicap at 14/1.
Pushed along in third early in the straight by Wayne Lordan, the Emmet Mullins-trained gelding came between Kalmira and Tory Reel to lead over a furlong out and was ridden out to beat the former by half a length.
It was a first success for the son of Prix du Jockey Club winner Reliable Man who had finished third to Kalmira on his previous Flat start at Navan in March.
Lordan said: “He battled well, he ran quite well in Navan but was lazy throughout the race and hence the cheekpieces went on him today and they helped him through that flat spot.
“He stays well and handled the bit of nicer ground really well. I think he's been a bit frustrating for the owners so he's won now and hopefully he can get another one during the summer.”
