The scheduled 'Man V Beast' challenge at Gowran Park this afternoon, which is the reason for the 45 minute interval between race 3 & 4, has been postponed due a muscle injury to Paralympic champion Mark Rohan.

The original challenge pitted Rohan, on his hand cycling bike, against Champion Jockey Davy Russell on horseback has been put back to May or June with Rohan pulling a chest muscle.

Russell was himself due to be replaced by Andrew Lynch due to his presence in Sandown today and racecourse manager Eddie Scally stated “unfortunately Mark pulled a muscle on Thursday and we intend rearranging the race to May or June. If we run it in June, Mark will hopefully be racing either Joseph O'Brien or Pat Smullen so will give more weight away!”

Regarding the 45 minute gap between races, Clerk of the Course Paddy Graffin said “I requested HRI to 'kill' the gap on Friday but they said it wasn't possible to do so at this late stage.”

Rohan added “we intend interviewing Willie Mullins in the 45 interval and hopefully he'll provide us with some useful tips for Cheltenham.”
