Ken Condon has enjoyed a breakthrough year and this year's Classic winning trainer was on the mark at Navan today as his Man Of The Sea shed his maiden tag when lading the Come Racing 11th November Nursery Handicap under jockey Bill Lee.
Condon's Romanised was a winner of the Irish 2,000 Guineas in May and today his Man Of The Sea gained a first win at the eighth attempt, when moving to the front inside the final furlong before scoring by a length and a quarter from Mi Esperanza
Lee, riding his 46th winner this season, later commented “he jumped and travelled well. There was plenty of pace on and I was able to sit off it in a nice position. He came off the hill and went forward, and when I got stuck into him he went to the line well.
“He was having a little bit of a look but he’s had plenty of runs this year and the experience stood to him. He’s done it well and hopefully there is another race in him.”
