Magnetic North is enjoying himself in claimers and followed up on his Limerick success in the opener at Tramore.
Dick Donohoe claimed him from Ado McGuinness in Limerick and watched as his new charge came in by a more than handy four and three-quarter lengths at 5/1 under the same jockey, Adam Caffrey.
He disputed throughout this mile and a half contest with Kiss My Lucky Egg and had that rival beaten a furlong and a half from home. Hurricane Helen briefly looked dangerous on the outer at the furlong pole, but Magnetic North motored clear in the final 150 yards to win decisively from Black Soul (9/1) who kept on for second.
Donohoe said: "It is nice for Paul (Sweeney, owner) to get a quick return after claiming him at Limerick and I'm delighted for him. Paul is from Letterkenny and he has had horses with me for a few years now.
"We saw this race after Limerick and there are not many other claimers coming up to suit him. He will probably go back to handicaps now if he is not claimed.
"There are a few options in Galway for him and he could go there, if Paul wants a day out we will probably go there."
No horses were claimed after this race.
