Madden gets a great tune from Scooping There could have been a fear that Scooping might have been doing too much too soon under Tom Madden in the Spin 1038 Handicap but on the pace is the place to be at Leopardstown this evening and so it proved again as the Dylan Thomas filly prevailed. Giving well-known horse men, Alan and Eamon Delaney their first winner on the track in a few years, Scooping kept up the gallop from over a furlong out to defeat the well-backed Mystic Princess by six and a half lengths. "That was a nice change. I thought if she went through the ground she had a big chance. We were a stone better off with the favourite (Lone Star) for two and a half lengths. "Tom rode her in Dundalk and rode the same kind of race but they were too good for her then. "She was into handicap company today though." The aforementioned Lone Star became the fourth beaten favourite from Ballydoyle on the night, following on from Palace, Johann Strauss and Kingsbarns. The Stewards informed Patrick J.Flynn, trainer that Oighear Dubh, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again. (GC & EM)
