Lyons doubles up with Janoobi Janoobi justified his prohibitive odds when running out a cosy winner of the mile maiden at Cork, giving trainer Ger Lyons a double on the card. Colin Keane was soon in front on the 1/8 shot and he had his rivals at work over two furlongs from home. The champion jockey asked his mount to settled things over a furlong out and he went on to post a three-and-a-quarter length win over Ms Eagleton. Janoobi had been runner-up on both previous career outings including when narrowly denied on his first start for Lyons at Leopardstown last month. The Night Of Thunder colt was bought from Shadwell having been with Mark Johnston in England and assistant Shane Lyons said:- "He was a lovely purchase, is a fine big horse and is still a baby. He is still maturing and will improve mentally as well. "It's not his fault the way the race turned out but ideally he would have been better off in a better race as he wouldn't have had to make the running. “Colin said he wouldn't need to step up in distance and when he gets his conditions and in a better race, I think we have an exciting horse going forward." Lyons has also struck earlier with Neo Soul in the five-furlong handicap, ridden by Gary Carroll. (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
