Lucid Dreams is on course for a tilt at the WillowWarm Gold Cup at Fairyhouse during Easter but the busy nine-year-old will have one run before tackling the Grade 1 race.

Runner-up in the Dan Moore Memorial Chase in January, Lucid Dreams was ridden for the first time by Danny Mullins at Navan on Saturday where he finished second to Galway Plate winner Ash Tree Meadow, in the Grade 2 Webster Cup.

Trainer John Ryan intends dropping his charge back to novice company in the coming weeks and reports “I was delighted with him at Navan. He hit a flat spot turning-in and even when De Bromhead's horse (Journey With Me) passed him going to the last, he picked up again and re-passed him. He was staying on really well and again even after passing the line.

“Danny will keep the ride and he'll go to Thurles on March 16 (Grade 3 Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase). The plan all season has been the Grade 1 novice over 2m4f at Fairyhouse on Easter Sunday and he'll run there afterwards.”
