Love And Cherish takes the last at Naas Despite swishing her tail Love And Cherish (6/1) kept on best in the closing stages to win the last at Naas, the Tipper Road Fillies Handicap, under Wayne Lordan for David Wachman. The Gigginstown House Stud owned, three-year-old daughter of Excellent Art, won her maiden on the third attempt at Dundalk in November of last year and after two decent handicap runs since, she managed to get her head in front again today. Having raced in second for much of the contest she made headway to challenge in the early straight and was ridden to lead a furlong and a half from home. She swished her tail in the closing stages but she kept on well inside the final furlong to score by half a length at the line. Drifting Mist took second under Shane Foley for Mick Halford at 13/2 while Something Graceful was a short head back in third for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning at 7/1. Bobskier was sent off the 5/2 favourite but she could offer no more once headed over a furlong out and she finished seventh under Conor Hoban for Ger O’Leary. Wayne Lordan said afterwards: "She travelled well & deserved that. It's good to get her head in front." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
