Lordan gets a winning tune out of Turf Range Division one of the BetVictor Run For Your Money Handicap at Dundalk saw a very exciting conclusion with Turf Range (10s into 8s) edging out favourite Happaugue (9/4) by a neck. They bumped about a furlong down here and Happaugue looked like he might be getting on top. However, with Wayne Lordan up for the first time, Turf Range proved to be a very determined foe. Ms Thompson chased the front pair home at a distance of a length and three parts as Turf Range won for the first time on outing number twenty. David Broad trains the successful Canford Cliffs four-year-old and the County Meath-based handler reflected: “He was just beaten twice up here last year and he seems to love the surface. “The last couple of times here he didn't really show much but he just seemed to spark tonight and it's worked out. “We'll probably keep him on the go now for the winter. To be honest he was probably on his last chance and if he didn't perform tonight he was for the high road. “He's owned by great people and we're delighted.” S. Foley, rider of Happaugue trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount leaned right in the straight. (GC & EM)
