Defy Logic is a very well named horse and after a course bumper win the chestnut again looked a bit of a freak when landing the Great Value Corporate Hospitality @ Fairyhouse Maiden Hurdle under Mark Walsh.
Again keen to get the job done as promptly as possible, the Flemensfirth gelding got across his hurdles quickly on his jumping bow, if a little awkward at times.
Market rival Mad Brian gave chase throughout but unfortunately for him and his supporters he was in pursuit of something out of the ordinary in Defy Logic.
The J P McManus owned winner waved goodbye to his rival in the straight and Mad Brian was going to have to settle for a moderate second until pitching and getting rid of Fergal Harford at the last.
Defy Logic was left to beat Raise Hell by thirty four lengths.
"I'm delighted that he got that done. We'll talk to Frank (Berry, the McManus racing manager) and see where he goes," relayed successful trainer Paul Nolan in the aftermath.
The Wexford operator went on: "He does it easy. We thought he'd have to run to a fairly high mark to win today.
"Mad Brian has solid form so I thought he'd have to run to a mark in the 130s.
"He's a little bit to learn jumping and I just hope to God he stays right.
"Someone asked me would he stay at it and I told them I didn't know as I'd never seen him off the bridle.
"He looks a bit awkward with his head carriage but the way he gallops he annihilates them.
"It was just a simple little thing that kept him off and knocked him back and that was why he didn't run until he did."
