Lizard Point finally gets his head in front Long-standing 'maiden' Lizard Point finally got his head in front for the first time at Dundalk today as the Pat Flynn trained gelding managed a second career victory in the Coral Smart Money Series Handicap (Div 1), under jockey Conor Hoban. The son of Fastnet Rock was awarded a previous race upon disqualification of winner Pedisnap at Gowran on August 15, as the first-past-the-post was found to have had tested positive for enhanced levels of cobalt. Today Lizard Point did have his picture taken, having made most of the running before staying on to beat Invincible Queen by a length and three parts. It was Lizard Point's first 'success' at the 32nd attempt and afterwards jockey Hoban later reported “Pat (Flynn) and (assistants), Danny Grant and Eoghan Norris are a great bunch of lads to ride for. They know their horses inside out and they told me, apart from the draw, that they really fancy this lad tonight and said that if I can get him to the front without pulling and dragging out of him. “You can see after the race cantering back that he grabs it when he's on the bridle so I threw the lot at him and he settled and I was able to get a lovely breather into him and coax him up the straight. “I got stuck into him for the last furlong-and-a-half and he galloped to the line well. It was a great performance but it wasn't a surprise as the lads were pretty sweet on him.” Quotes from Gary Carson
