Airlie Beach faces 11 rivals as she bids for a glorious swansong in the Listed Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes at Galway on Tuesday.
The seven-year-old is in foal to Mount Nelson and trainer Willie Mullins will surely be eager to see her sign off on a winning note following a fruitful career that has yielded six hurdles wins, including one at Grade One level, a bumper victory and one Flat success.
Steve Massey, racing manager for owner the Supreme Horse Racing Club, said: "This will probably be her last run and it would be fantastic if she could go out on a win.
"She's been a star for us, winning eight races in total and Grade One over hurdles, and we will be sorry to see her go, but I suppose you have to at some point.
"She's going to Tattersalls in mid-November and it would obviously be great if she could add some black type on the Flat.
"There will be plenty of people there to cheer her on tomorrow."
Airlie Beach will be partnered by Pat Smullen after Kate Harrington rode her to victory in a Tramore maiden last time and Massey is hoping the Shantou mare can aid the title-chasing jockey.
He added: "We've got a great jockey on board tomorrow and hopefully we can give Pat another winner."
