The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cooley Fillies Stakes is the feature on an eight-race card at Dundalk this evening with the action getting underway under the lights at 5pm.
A total of 12 fillies and mares have been declared for the final ‘black type’ race of the Irish Flat racing year, with Didn’thavemuchtodo and Keep In Touch two of the highest rated in this mile Listed event.
The Paddy Twomey-trained Persian Jewel makes a quick reappearance after winning a maiden here last Friday while Hodd’s Girl and English raider Behind The Scenes are others for the shortlist.
The Ger Lyons-trained Many Tears won a handicap here last month but is one of the outsiders, although connections are hopeful of a good run.
Lyons’ brother and assistant trainer Shane said, “We are delighted that she is in it as she has really transformed and is blossoming. She has a coat on her as if it is the middle of the summer.
"She loves this surface and a strong-run mile will suit her. She doesn't have an ideal draw (12), but hopefully they will go quick.”
