Without Limites got his career back on track, as he made all in the Casey Brothers Supporting Their Local Racecourse Beginners Chase.
A dual bumper winner in early 2016, the Liz Doyle trained grey was ultimately disappointing over hurdles.
Making his debut over the larger obstacles this afternoon, he was sent off the well-backed 5/6 favourite (from 11/4 last night and from 11/10 on-course) under Donagh Meyler.
Sent straight to the front, his advantage was reduced on the approach to the straight. He was ridden and went on again after the second last, keeping on nicely on the run-in to score by five lengths. Goose Man (9s to 7s on-course) finished second under Andrew Lynch for Tom Taaffe, while The Church Gate (6/1) was six lengths back in third, with Robbie Power in the saddle for Matthew Smith.
Liz Doyle on Without Limites: "I'm very relieved. It wasn't easy making all like that. Donagh said there was shadows at every fence so it was quite difficult for him. He just let him fill his lungs up coming down the hill, then he gave him a squeeze and he went on again.
"From day one his jumping has been much better than his technique over hurdles, which left a lot to be desired. He could end up wanting three miles plus and it was just a nice starting point for him today.
"We will take baby steps with him, and maybe go for a novice rated or something like that. We'll just see how far he can go.
"It's good to get him back into the winners enclosure. Expectations might have been a little tempered after his hurdles season.
"These wide margin winners of four-year-old bumpers on heavy ground, you have no idea of their ability until you feel your way over hurdles.
"He is better over fences thank God, and I can always go back to hurdling with him, not for a while though!"
