Cool Leader and Billy Lee win at Fairyhouse © Photo Healy Racing
Billy Lee finished second three times before getting his winner aboard Cool Leader in Division ll of the Come Racing To Fairyhouse Next Sunday Handicap at Fairyhouse.
The Hilary McLoughlin trained mare was winning for the first time in her career having shown ability on a number of occasions previously.
Always travelling easily just off the pace, Lee took it up early in the straight and always looked to have plenty underneath him.
“She's been a bit frustrating, she's been in and out, but she ran a lovely race the last day. Colin Keane said then that she probably didn't get home and to drop her back to seven,” said Assistant Trainer Martin Ferris.
“I'm delighted for the owner who bought her at the horse-in-training sales.
“She's a good sire and she has a very good Godolphin pedigree. She's in foal to Cotai Glory so it was very important to get a win with her.
“Time is running out with her, she maybe has two more runs before we have to stop.
“We'll see what the handicapper does and look for something similar but as far as the owner is concerned that's job done.”
