Lee a Legend for favourite backers with brace The award for the leading jockey at Dundalk over the winter was shared between Conor Hoban and Joseph O'Brien on 15 winners apiece as Billy Lee brought up a double when keeping the former at bay in the concluding Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Race & Stay Package Handicap. Lee rode the winner, Tooreen Legend (5/2 fav) whilst Hoban was on the runner-up, Gretzky. Seen to good effect earlier on the Andy Slattery winner, Merry Mast, Lee here dictated things to a nicety on the front-end aboard Tooreen Legend. Several came there with a chance behind the Tommy Stack runner in the straight but in the end he saw off Gretzky by a length and three parts. Lee stated: "They went slow and I was able to get a handy enough lead. He was then able to use his turn of foot. "When we get back on grass and good ground hopefully he'll do well." S. Foley, rider of Senyuman, trained by M.Halford, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the saddle slipped on his mount in this race. (AM & EM)
