Lebron got off the mark in the extended mile and three maiden for three-year-olds at Wexford with Joseph O’Brien in the saddle.

On his third start, the son of Galileo cut out the running but was joined at the elbow by Gumption and debutant Cul Baire

The race developed into a final furlong battle with Lebron (11/8) staying on well to beat Cul Baire (9/10f from 6/5) by a neck.

Gumption was unable to go with the front two at the business end and came in third, three lengths back at 7/1.

Aidan O’Brien trains the winner and in a rare appearance at Wexford said: “He was very green the last day [second at Leopardstown on August 9], but he learned a good bit from it.

“He’ll come on for this win. I haven’t been at this track for around 20 years. It is in some order.”

His daughter Sarah rides in the 7.25 race.
