The Sheila Lavery trained Global Energy recorded his third success of the year when staying on best under Billy Lee to win the Listowel Arms Hotel Handicap at the County Kerry track.

A winner at the Curragh on his reappearance in March, the five-year-old was placed twice at Leopardstown before adding a second success at headquarters in May.

Off the track until returning in the Irish Cambridgeshire last month, the son of Showcasing was entitled to have needed that outing.

Back in calmer waters this afternoon, the 5/1 chance travelled nicely just off the pace under Billy Lee, before being produced to head Monasterboice over a furlong out.

Keeping on strongly, the gelding held the late run of Orandi by three-quarters-of-a-length.

Winning rider Billy Lee said: "It was very smooth, he jumped nicely and there was a nice pace on so I was happy to follow away. I got a lovely position all the way along the rail and I was biding my time turning-in, just waiting for the gaps to open but I ended up coming around them.

"He just felt like he was doing enough in front and you'd like to think there is a bit more left in him."

He added "We were nearly born and reared running around here as kids so it was lovely to have a winner for Gillian (Scott, sister) yesterday, as she had a bad accident recently. To get a winner here was great."
