Marshim beats Hidden Diamond at Tipperary© Photo Healy Racing
Declan Lavery got a good tune from the well-tried Uncle Tom Cobley at Ballinrobe on Tuesday night and he again showed his worth on Marshim when that eleven-year-old won the TipperaryRaces.com Handicap Hurdle. De Benno and Alexander Leaving dominated the market for this two and a half miler. The former travelled well to deliver his challenge but he didn't find as much as he threatened to, after a less than fluent leap at the second last. He 'missed' the last too and ended up finishing fourth.
Alexander Leaving meanwhile, bidding to give Henry de Bromhead a double after Treacy Hotels Boy s win in the previous race, finished a well-beaten eighth.
The winner, Marshim came there with a 'wet-sail' in the straight and he was much the strongest on the run-in. He ended up crossing the line two and three parts of a length in front from Hidden Diamond
Walter Power trains Marshim for Peter Wall and he said: "He got no racing before he was nine, because he had problems, and I thought he improved a pile last season.
"The handicapper will probably sort him out now but it's great to get the win and hopefully we'll knock another out of him.
"We'll give him three weeks or a month before running again and we might look at Listowel (2nd at the Festival twice last year)." (TW & EM)
