Trainer Garrett Power made the perfect start to the new jumps season with a winner from his first runner, Late Night Deed in the Team Tipperary GAA Race Evening June 14th Mares Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel this evening.
Ridden by Paul Townend, the daughter of Midnight Legend travelled well throughout and improved to lead from two out. Late Night Deed passed the post in the finale, appropriately enough, at 9.05pm and four and a half lengths to the good over Our Lady Carmel
Power, who registered four winners last season (from just 15 runs), later stated “she was lame after Leopardstown so we gave her a rest after that and she runs well fresh and jumps for fun.”
Late Night Deed is owned by Jack and Caroline Jiggens, from Essex who had horses with Joe Crowley when Power himself was working at the yard.
