Review LEOPARDSTOWN 7TH APR

Creachadoir lost his maiden tag with an impressive performance in the Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Saturday.

Jim Bolger's colt, third in a maiden at the Curragh on opening day, left that form well behind to record an emphatic three-and-a-half length win in the Group 3 contest.

Kevin Manning had the 12/1 shot to the fore throughout and he quickened on from fellow front-runner Admiralofthefleet turning for home. Confuchias kept on to grab second in a bunch finish behind.

'He had a touch of shins last year and was a little bit stubborn. We missed the boat with him and the ground was gone so we decided to leave him,' said Bolger.

'He's a proper horse. It will be a toss up between the Irish Guineas and the French Derby for him.'

It was a boost for stable-mate, 2,000 Guineas favourite Teofilo, and William Hills clipped him to 5/4 from 11/8.

Bolger and Manning completed a double in the concluding contest when Seasoned stayed on well close home to score by a length-and-a-quarter from front-runner Skerries.

John Oxx's 1,000 Guineas hope Arch Swing had to work hard for her victory in the Fillies Trial, getting home by a short-head from stable-mate Four Sins.

Mick Kinane produced the 1/1f to challenge at the furlong pole but she couldn't shake off the Aga Khan filly, who pressed her all the way to the line.

'I wanted to get a run into her as she only had two runs last year. She's a big masculine filly who needs plenty of work,' said Oxx of the winner.

'It would have been nice to see her win easier but she came on from her first run to her second run last season and will hopefully come on for that - she needs to.

'Mick said the ground felt slow on her, although it's lovely ground, but she has matured and may need it good to firm. She needs a good run the next four weeks and needs to improve.'

Boylesports cut the winner to 8/1 from 10/1 for the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket while William Hill also now go 8/1 from 11/1.

Kevin Prendergast got off the mark for the season in great style, saddling a double with Warriors Key and More Wells.

The Chester Vase could be on the agenda for More Wells after he stayed on well to get up close home for a neck success in the Drumderry Aggregate Maiden.

'He was working very well and we might send him for the Chester Vase now,' said Prendergast. 'He's in the Derbys and I think he is a nice horse. The further he goes the better he goes.'

Warriors Key had initiated the brace when narrowly prevailing in the Aertel Page 277 Handicap after a final furlong duel with Out Of The Red.

Aidan O'Brien was out of luck in the trials but All My Loving looked a smart sort when scoring from the front on her debut in the opening Fillies Maiden.

'She's a lovely bred filly and will stay further. We'll step her up in company now and go 1m4f. She's a big mare and took a bit of time,' said O'Brien.
