Rhythm'n Roots proved a game winner of the feature PW McGrath Memorial Ballysax Stakes as Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning combined for a double at Leopardstown.
The Group 3 event turned into a battle between Rhythm'n Roots and Golden Arrow inside the final furlong.
Manning had hit the front a furlong-and-a-half out on the 10/1 shot but was quickly pressed by Golden Arrow. Rhythm'n Roots refused to back down, however, and fought doggedly to prevail by a neck.
'He's a tough hardy horse who goes on any ground,' said Bolger afterwards. 'He gets the trip well - we're not sure where he'll go next.'
The pair had initiated the brace in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden as Finsceal Beo make a promising debut.

'He banged his head on the stalls in the Gladness and lost two teeth,' revealed trainer Kevin Prendergast afterwards.
'He's a good honest, genuine horse and is versatile - he goes on any ground. We'll try and find a similar contest for him.'
McDonogh completed a double in the concluding Oakfield Handicap when James Leavy's Volcan Magique narrowly held the challenge of Flashy Beau after good battle inside the final furlong.
