Perceval Legallois put in one of the performances of Leopardstown's Christmas Festival when storming home by seven lengths in the Paddy Power Steeplechase over three miles, and his next outing may come over hurdles.

The handicapper reacted by raising the eight-year-old gelding 10lbs to a new mark of 152 over fences.

Trainer Gavin Cromwell said: “It’s going to be hard to place him after that. It’s possible he could go back over hurdles."

When asked if he would get an entry in the Grand National, he replied: “I don’t know would he stay that far. I doubt if he would, but we’ll see.”
