Sheila Lavery has her team in good form in the early weeks of the new Flat season and is mulling over plans for Kortez Bay following a highly encouraging reappearance at the Curragh.

The New Bay gelding won twice last year and put in a career best when beating all bar Orandi in the Nua Healthcare Irish Lincolnshire.

The four-year-old is now on a rating of 106 and Lavery said, “I’m thinking about the mile Listed race (Irish Stallion Farms EBF Heritage Stakes) on the 9th (April, at Leopardstown).

“However, he hasn’t come in his coat so I might just give him more time.

“He’s probably a 1m2f horse really and is not ground dependant so there is no rush to run him again soon.”
