Knock On Steel gained compensation for an unlucky run at Tramore eight days ago when landing the Fermoy Handicap Hurdle at Cork today for trainer Brian Jordan and jockey Sean O'Keeffe.
The seven year old son of Arakan was the beaten 7/2 favourite in a recent Tramore handicap hurdle but met interference on the bend after three out and was subsequently eased.
Today Knock On Steel successfully justified that same 7/2 favourite's price when repelling the challenge of runner-up Broder by a length and three parts.
Winning Co Wexford based trainer Brian Jordan was on lead-up duty and later said “he is a better horse this year and has matured mentally.
“He was turned sideways last week (at Tramore) and only for that he might have won. Today's race was the only race for him over hurdles but fences are really what he wants.”
