Andy McNamara saddled a near 46/1 double after Kingslayer survived a stewards enquiry to take division one of the View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Handicap. House Of Kings looked set to land this extended ten-furlong event when sweeping to the front a furlong out but was unable to repel the renewed challenge of Kingslayer.
Daniel King ’s mount did drift right and bump House Of Kings inside the final furlong but was on top in the closing stages to score by three-quarters-of-a-length. Wonder Spirit kept on from off the pace to finish four lengths further back in third.
The five-year-old was having just his second start for the Athboy trainer, successful earlier with Ellabella and was formerly with McNamara’s late father Andrew.
McNamara said, "“It's brilliant to get a double, I've only ever had one other before.
“He'd been working very well since he came to me and I was surprised he didn't run better the last day. What he did there is what he's been showing he could do at home. It's nice to see him pull through like that.
“I'll have a chat with the owner but it's a bit like the other one, if it's happening for him here we might as well come back for another go.”
