Favourite Tucanae slipped up early taking out Presenting Meghan as well in the O'Kelly Brothers Demolition Mares Handicap Hurdle at Limerick, a race that eventually comprehensively went the way of Minx Tiara
Connections and supporters of the David O’Brien-trained and Kevin Brouder-ridden winner, had cause for concern two out alright, but the daughter of Doyen was soon in control again.
From the front she eventually accounted for No Memory by eleven lengths, after being ‘chancey’ at the final flight too.
"She strengthened up a lot since her break and had a good run in Fairyhouse but had a bit of interference turning in and in fairness the run brought her on a good bit,” said O’Brien.
"I thought she'd run well today and I'm delighted.
"That's Kevin's first ride for me; I told him sit fifth or sixth and he said she was a little keen so he left her bowl along. He gave her a lovely ride."
D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Rebel Early trained by W.J. Burke, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
The Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the start involving Tucanae, ridden by O.R. Brown, who fell on the flat and Presenting Meghan, ridden by C.P. McNamara, who was badly hampered and unseated. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference caused was accidental in nature and they took no further action.
P.T. Enright, rider of Trevena (GB) trained by Mrs D.A.Love, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
