Keane delights followers with 33/1 win on Yaxeni Three time champion and record breaker Colin Keane landed a 33/1 success on Yaxeni for his boss Ger Lyons in the Colm White Bookmaker November Premier Handicap at Naas. The handicap debutant, up near the top of the weights off 99, came again, after Powerful Aggie had looked to have taken her measure inside the final quarter mile. Yaxeni got there near the line to prevail by half a length, with Dunvegan finishing off well in third, a length and a quarter back. “It was a brilliant ride and it encapsulated Colin's whole season in a few minutes there,” said Lyons' brother Shane. “To be fair to the filly she's an absolute model of consistency. It's the first time she's stepped up to two miles and we knew she'd get it no problem. She thrives on that ground, she's so one-paced but a good one-paced. “She stays in training next year and it will be all about getting black-type. Getting that trip on that ground she can step up in class as well, she might have to travel to the likes of France.” Following a request from broadcasters, the Stewards granted permission for the start of this race to be delayed by 2 minutes. Owing to a malfunction with a section of the starting stalls, the Stewards granted permission for this race to be started by flag. (GC & EM)
