Jupitor stayed on and saw out every yard of the three mile one handicap chase in Fairyhouse in the hands of Robbie Power.
The eight-year-old was seen making steady headway in the last half mile and coming to the last he only had Glenbeg in front of him.
Glenbeg made a mistake at the last which stopped him in his tracks and Jupitor kept going on the run-in to win by two and three quarter lengths at 16/1 (from 20s).
Glenbeg was second at 20/1 and Carry Each Other (8/1) and Golden Wonder (20/1) completed the placings.
Successful handler Paul Nolan said: “When he won his maiden hurdle in Punchestown there was nothing behind him that won after and he still got a mark of 120. He wouldn’t win a handicap hurdle off that.
“He also got a mark of 120 when he won his beginners’ chase. We were always riding him up there, but today we changed the tactics. We let him come and pass horses and he got a lovely ride. On the basis of today that’s the way to ride him.
“He’s a bit ground dependant, he wants a good dig.”
Robbie Power replaced Mikey Fogarty on board Jupitor after Fogarty sustained two fractured vertebrae in his back in a fall at Aintree on Friday. That injury is expected to keep him sidelined for around three months.
