The trip may have been a worry for some but with the ground soft Jumbajukiba was always going to make a bold bid to give weight all round in the Listed Navan Sprint Stakes and Fran Berry's mount stayed on best to keep 25/1 shot, Croisultan at bay by a length and three quarters.
A proven Listed/Group 3 performer over seven furlongs and a mile, the six-year-old Barathea gelding had a six furlong win to his name, that coming in a Salisbury maiden when under the care of Amanda Perrett in September 2005.
Jessica Harrington said of Joe Flaherty's 9/2 shot: "I'm thrilled with him. The ground is the key to him. We'll campaign him now whenever the ground is right over trips from six furlongs to a mile. The mile stretches him a little bit and we'll probably next go for the Group 3 Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh (May 23rd, will only go there if the ground is soft)."
Fran Berry is certainly fond of Jumbajukiba as he was winning his sixth race on him here.
The six to four favourite, Le Cadre Noir finished third whilst the best of the British raiders was Kevin Ryan's Wi Dud in fourth. (EM)
