Wesley Joyce swooped late to secure his first winner on 50/1 shot Hands Down in the concluding sprint handicap at Sligo.

The 10lb claimer conjured a late charge from the outsider as she got up in the dying strides to deny front-runner Adams Barbour

Joyce had held his mount up and had to overcome some traffic in the straight before getting the Charlie Moore-trained filly into full slight close home.

The Moyross teenager is attached to Johnny Murtagh's yard. It was also a welcome winner for Moore, his first since July 2015.

Joyce said afterwards:- "It's a great feeling to ride your first winner.

"I tried to make the running but she wasn't quick enough out of stalls.

"She travelled really well in behind and when I turned in and went for her she picked up really nice and got me the win.

"I'm 18 and based with Johnny Murtagh.

"I'd like to get as many winners as I can and get as many outside rides as I can this season."
